Sometimes the very worst happens. A new mum sees her child trip, fall and knock out a front tooth. A hug is hardly enough to console the heart-broken mum.

We have dealt with this very often.

If the tooth has been knocked out in one piece, wash it in clean water or milk and place it back into the socket. Sometimes this is adequate to re-attach the tooth. At Caring 4 Smiles we have splinted teeth back, supported by the adjacent teeth and kept the child’s healing under observation. It is one of the hardest jobs for us to console mum and baby that all will be OK shortly. Front teeth have to feature in all the family photographs and party pictures. We understand and therefore work to advise new mums to be most careful when their child starts walking around.
